Faculty Advisor

Maction Komwa, Ph.D., is a Research Faculty and Adjunct Professor in the department of Geography and GeoInformation Science. As a geospatial environmental/conservation scientist, his principal areas of research focus include the geography of natural resources, sustainable development, food systems & international health policy & strategies. Maction has worked as a consultant with the International Food Policy Research Institute and the World Bank in Washington DC on work related to geospatial data analysis especially on land management technologies, market accessibility, household food nutritional security, and poverty mapping.

He received a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Policy from George Mason University and a M.A. in Geographic Information Sciences for Development and Environment from Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts. This will be the fourth time that Maction has been a Faculty Advisor for WYSE and he is very eager to meet the 2017 delegates.
