Emma Walker

EMMA WALKER

Intern

Emma Walker is a Junior at Hanover Public High School, where she plays the violin in three ensembles and is the current Treasurer for Key Club. Outside school, she loves to play with her dogs, read poetry books, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family. Science, animals, and music are the passions she loves with all her heart. She lives in Pennsylvania, close to the historic city of Gettysburg. Emma participated in WYSE during the summer of 2022 and is elated to return as an intern!

Paige Dunmire

PAIGE DUNMIRE

Intern

Paige Dunmire is from Georgia and is a junior at Alpharetta High School. Paige is a cross country and track runner, captain of the dive team, and a member of student council and the National Honor Society. In the summer, Paige enjoys coaching young divers at her neighborhood pool, and during the year, she enjoys reading, baking, art, and spending time with friends and family. Paige was a delegate at WYSE in 2022 and is so excited to return as an intern for WYSE 2023!

Julia Rennels

JULIA RENNELS

Intern

Julia Rennels is a senior at Wimberley High School, in Wimberley Texas. She is active in many activities and organizations, including National Honor Society, a four year member of her varsity cross country and track team, equestrian sports, and Freedom Canines International where she assists in training future service animals. Outside of school, she spends her time caring for her menagerie of pets. Her favorite hobby is creating habitats for hermit crabs, fire bellied toads, and bearded dragons. She also owns and operates a successful pet sitting business. Julia thoroughly enjoyed her time at WYSE last summer and solidified her plans to study Biology or Environmental Science in college. Her most memorable experience was the trip to the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute. She is exited to be returning to WYSE as an intern for 2023!

Hanna Leitenberger

HANNA LEITENBERGER

Intern

Hanna is a junior at Bishop Mccort Catholic High School in midwestern Pennsylvania They are the theatre tech director, plays in the concert and marching band, and are a member of the PJAS team. They are also part of the Genesis/Ecology Club. They like reading, drawing, playing games, and hanging out with friends. They attended WYSE in 2022 and are very excited about the opportunity to be a youth advisory board member!

Alexi Martinez

ALEXI MARTINEZ

Alexi Martinez is a 2021 WYSE Alumni and High School Junior at George C. Marshall in Falls Church, Virginia.  At Marshall, Alexi is a member of the National Honors Society and the Varsity Softball team. Since attending WYSE Alexi has found a passion for conservation and plans to go into Environmental Engineering. In WYSE 2022 Alexi hopes to help bridge new connections for the WYSE class of 2022. In her free time she enjoys playing softball, visiting family in Colorado, and driving to the beach.

William Pickard

WILLIAM PICKARD

William Pickard is a rising senior at Pamlico County High School, where he serves as a Chief in the NJROTC, runs track and serves as Captain of the Drone Team.  When William is not at school or at his part-time job, he enjoys sailing, playing basketball, reading, running or spending time with friends and family. William participated in WYSE during the summer of 2021 and is thrilled to be returning this summer as an Intern. He lives on the coast of North Carolina in Oriental, along the Inner Banks.

Haley Paul

Conference Intern

Haley is currently a Junior at Hurricane High School in Hurricane, West Virginia. At HHS, Haley is a member of several clubs, the most relevant of which being her school’s Environmental Club, where she serves as the Historian. Haley is also involved in her school’s marching band and show choir, where she performs as an instrumentalist. In her free time, Haley is an avid reader and stays very involved in her community. Haley attended WYSE in 2018 as a delegate and was able to discover her passion for Environmental Science through the immersive and inspiring experience provided by the seminar.

Tai’Juon Walls

Conference Intern

Tai’Juon Walls is currently a Junior attending Viera High School in Viera, Florida. Besides his studies, he enjoys playing video games and outdoor photography. WYSE 2018 was an absolutely amazing experience for him in which he will never forget. While currently he is dabbling in the art of online streaming, after high school, he plans to attend medical school to become a cardiovascular surgeon.

Rebecca King

Conference Intern

Rebecca King is a Florida resident and has been a member of 4H for six years, growing her love for science and animals. She attended WYSE in 2018 and has used the knowledge she gained to be a better person. Rebecca is now an intern for her United States Representative’s office, helping to better her community. Furthermore, she is prepping to learn more about what she can do to help our planet by pursuing conservation biology in college.

McKenzie Moore

Conference Intern

McKenzie Moore is a senior at Douglas High School in Douglas, Wyoming. She is very excited to be a part of the youth advisory board and make this incredible experience just as amazing, if not more, for the 2019 WYSE group! In her small school, she is involved in band as section leader of the flutes, in cheerleading as team captain, in academic challenge, and in FBLA. As part of her activities when possible, McKenzie has volunteered for many different programs and events. In college she hopes to pursue a major that focuses on the environment and making a change.
