Welcome to WYSE
George Mason University along with distinguished partners the National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian’s National Zoo is proud to host the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment (WYSE). Each summer, WYSE welcomes 250 High School National Youth Delegates from all over the country. National Youth Delegates join the Mason community, which includes students and faculty from all over the world. Mason is both the largest public university in Virginia and one of the most culturally diverse universities in the nation.
Mason attracts proven and innovative leaders in conservation, climate change, and the environment. Faculty members have developed the WYSE curriculum to suit the needs and potential of the nation’s most talented future leaders in the field. Curriculum includes hands-on learning with industry leaders, not only from Mason, but from international conservation experts and Washington insiders. High School National Youth Delegates will experience an integrated and forward-thinking approach to the environment, while acquiring valuable “in-the-trenches” knowledge.
WYSE 2020 Program Update
After careful consideration, George Mason University has decided to cancel all camps and conferences through June 30. This, unfortunately, means that the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment (WYSE) will no longer take place. We share in everyone’s disappointment during this trying time.
Please know that all families will receive a full refund of their tuition paid. This will take some time to work through so please look for email communication from the WYSE team in the coming week regarding your tuition refund.
In the meantime, we are working on virtual engagement opportunities to keep you connected. Please stay tuned for more information.
We so appreciate your registration this winter and now your patience as we work through these difficult times. Our office remains committed to your success and hopes to still be part of your journey moving forward.
