DR. ANDREW FLAGEL

President and CEO, Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area

Andrew is President and CEO of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington
Metropolitan Area, which fosters collaboration among its 17 colleges and universities.
He is a graduate of George Washington University, where he served as a regional
director of admissions and as director of admissions for the Congressional Youth
Leadership Council. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Higher,
Adult, and Lifelong Education while serving as a director in Flint for the University
of Michigan, focusing his research on access and inclusion.

As Dean of Enrollment for over a decade at George Mason University, Andrew created ground-breaking programs for military members, veterans, and international and transfer students. He founded and led the Washington Scholars Programs, and spearheaded partnerships with Northern Virginia Community College and Fairfax County Public Schools. He then became Senior VP at Brandeis University, serving as their chief of student affairs and chief enrollment officer. He has also served as VP for Advancement at the Association of American Colleges and Universities and successfully developed partnerships with non-profit organizations, foundations, and private companies to support quality and equity throughout higher education.
