Anja Busse

Anja is currently a junior at Antigo High in Wisconsin. She enjoys working with animals and hopes to become a wildlife Veterinarian one day. She has also put together events to help raise money for Type One Diabetes Awareness. In her free time she enjoys singing, writing, being involved in the school musical and volunteering for a variety of organization. She hopes to give all the 2019 WYSE youth delegates the same amazing experience that she had last year.

Rebecca King

Conference Intern

Rebecca King is a Florida resident and has been a member of 4H for six years, growing her love for science and animals. She attended WYSE in 2018 and has used the knowledge she gained to be a better person. Rebecca is now an intern for her United States Representative’s office, helping to better her community. Furthermore, she is prepping to learn more about what she can do to help our planet by pursuing conservation biology in college.

Isabella Leishear

Bella Leishear is a senior in lower Delaware, and she attended WYSE the summer of 2018. At her high school, she is the president and founder of an animal rights and environmental protection club called C.A.P.E. For Tomorrow. Bella has been a vegan for over two years now, and she will be majoring in environmental studies next year in college. Her favorite parts of WYSE were the amazing seminars and activities, and the kindness of the fellow delegates and the staff. She believes that surrounding yourself with educated people of a similar mindset is beyond compare, and she is proud that she and her group at WYSE became a family that continue to inspire each other today.

McKenzie Moore

Conference Intern

McKenzie Moore is a senior at Douglas High School in Douglas, Wyoming. She is very excited to be a part of the youth advisory board and make this incredible experience just as amazing, if not more, for the 2019 WYSE group! In her small school, she is involved in band as section leader of the flutes, in cheerleading as team captain, in academic challenge, and in FBLA. As part of her activities when possible, McKenzie has volunteered for many different programs and events. In college she hopes to pursue a major that focuses on the environment and making a change.

Fatima Yahuza

Fatima is a 16 year old junior originally from Africa, who is currently attending Eximius College Preparatory Academy in the South Bronx, New York. She had the opportunity to attend the WYSE program in the summer of 2018 and is glad to help make WYSE amazing for 2019!

Raivyn Gonzales

Raivyn is currently a senior at Salem High School in Virginia Beach, VA. Outside of school, she is always helping at her church’s soup kitchen, volunteering with animals, or caring for her younger siblings. After high school, she plans to go to a four-year college to study veterinary medicine. Raivyn attended WYSE in 2018 as a delegate and had an extraordinary and unforgettable experience.

Kaitlyn Sorrels

Kaitlyn Sorrels is a senior at Port Neches-Groves High School in Port Neches, Texas. She has been the secretary for the schools Key Club for three years. She also played tennis for the school her sophomore year. Kaitlyn attended the WYSE in the summer of 2018 and enjoyed her time at George Mason. In her free time, she enjoys her time with family, volunteering in the community, and playing with her cats. Kaitlyn plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in Nursing.

Abigail Swick

ABIGAIL SWICK

Junior Faculty Advisor

Abigail is an undergraduate student at Elgin Community College working toward gaining an Associates in Arts, and later planning on transferring to a four year university to earn a Bachelor’s in Psychology.
Abigail plans to use her degree to become a city police officer. In her free time she enjoys boxing, outdoor recreation and film.

Dr. Jessica Siegal-Willott

Following graduation from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Jessica Siegal-Willott completed two internships – one in small animal medicine at Oradell Animal Hospital, and one in zoo, wildlife, and exotic animal medicine at Kansas State University. She then completed the University of Florida’s Zoological Medicine Residency. Dr. Jess became boarded by the American College of Zoological Medicine in 2007. Jess is currently employed as the supervisory veterinarian at Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoological Park in Washington, DC.

Denny Charlton

DENNY CHARLTON

Animal Keeper, Amazonia

Denny has been employed as an animal keeper at the Smithsonian National Zoo for over eight years and currently works with fish and amphibians in the Amazonia exhibit. He has specialized in the field of exotic animal husbandry for a total of 20 years and his experiences range from training chickens to caring for the critically endangered Sumatran rhinoceros. Denny has managed the Greater Kudu Species Survival Plan (SSP) and studbook program for six years and is an active member of both the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK).
