Sabit Nasir

Junior Faculty Advisor

Sabit Nasir is a rising senior studying Environmental Studies and Geography at the University of Connecticut. He is currently the President of the EcoHusky Student Group, the largest environmental organization on campus for those interested in advocacy and the environment. Believe it or not, his environmental passion came from the WYSE program! WYSE allowed him to grow a love for environmentalism, bringing him to where he is today. As an alumni of the WYSE program, Sabit is excited to be one of the Junior Faculty Advisors this summer!

Luke Bertaux

Luke Bertaux is a junior at Westlake Academy in Westlake, Texas. He is a member of his high school’s cross country team and is also involved in many organizations including National Honor Society, Rotary Interact, and Young Men’s Service League. Outside of school, Luke enjoys playing the guitar and working at his job in the retail department at a local water park resort. He has moved all across the United States and has lived in Illinois and North Carolina before coming to Texas. WYSE 2017 helped Luke find a strong passion for environmental engineering which is a path that he plans to pursue in college. He is excited to be a part of the Youth Advisory Board and to help make WYSE 2018 as successful as it can be.

Emily Ellithorpe

EMILY ELLITHORPE

Junior Faculty Advisor

Emily Ellithorpe is originally from Massachusetts and attended WYSE in 2017 as a delegate and in 2018 as an intern. This fall she will be sophomore at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) with a major in Environmental Resources Engineering. She plans to focus on water quality and stormwater management, but also has an interest in green infrastructure. On campus, Emily is involved in Engineers Without Borders, The New York Water Environment Association, Eco-Reps and is a member of the Woodsmen Team. Outside of school she likes to spend time outdoors, travel, and make photo books/videos from her trips.

Christa Madison

CHRISTA MADISON

Junior Faculty Advisor

Christa Madison is a Christian Conservationist who grew up in small-town Roanoke, Virginia. She developed her love for nature from her time growing up surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. She is currently a senior and will hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from George Mason University pending her graduation in the spring of 2020. Christa is also perusing a minor in Tourism and Events Management, and a concentration in Conservation. She just completed a semester at the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation. Her professional interests involve photography and mending the relationship between humans and nature by community outreach and environmental education. Christa found her passion for the community and the environment through her faith and education.  Her faith leads her to believe humanity should be good stewards of the environment. Christa’s future ambitions are to continue to learn, grow, and advocate for the protection of the environment. She would like to explore careers in environmental education, the exotic animal trade, and environmental consulting in the private sector. She hopes for a future where humans interact peacefully with the environment and one another, it is her life goal to be a part of this process.

Emilee Wooldridge

Junior Faculty Advisor

Emilee Wooldridge is a rising senior at the University of Connecticut located in Storrs, Connecticut. She is majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and minoring in Anthropology. She has many interests including reptile behavior, paleoichnology and evolutionary systematics. Outside of this she is a member of the University of Connecticut Marching Band and enjoys spending time with her assortment of pets. Emilee was a delegate for WYSE in 2012 is excited to return as part of the team and is looking forward to WYSE 2017!

Jesse Wong

JESSE WONG

Junior Faculty Advisor

Jesse is a senior at George Mason University from Brandywine, Maryland studying Environmental Science with a concentration in Conservation and a minor in Computer Science within the Honors College. He attended the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment in 2014 and returned as a Junior Faculty Advisor in 2017 and 2018. Jesse previously worked as an intern in George Mason Office of Admissions for the Washington Scholars Program and as a research assistant for the Department of Environmental Science and Policy as a research assistant focusing on wetland ecosystems. Currently, Jesse is an intern for the United States Geological Survey National Climate Adaptation Science Center examining how our changing climate is affecting food and water resources. While on campus, Jesse works with a variety of research projects with the George Mason Department of Biology and Department of Environmental Science and Policy. During his free time, Jesse enjoys going outside and bird-watching or hiking.

Rosa Wolf

Junior Faculty Advisor

Rosa Wolf is the loudest and proudest fighting Texas A&M Aggie of the class of 2019. She is currently studying Ocean and Coastal Resources at Texas A&M University at Galveston and is currently working as a resident assistant as well as volunteer with the Galveston Humane Society and the Texas Marine Mammal stranding network. During the summer of 2013, Rosa attended WYSE. This experience deepened her passion for sharing her concern and love about the environment and animals. She is excited to meet and get to know all of the new delegates for this year’s summit!

Brianna Wagner

Junior Faculty Advisor

Brianna Wagner is currently a junior at Rogers State University in Claremore Oklahoma studying Environmental Conservation. She has grown up on a family farm where conservation was a top priority and she was raised alongside many dogs, cats, horses, and cattle. Brianna has traveled to Australia and the United Kingdom in 2007 and 2009 as part of the People to People student ambassador program as well as attending the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment as a delegate in 2012. She was honored to return to WYSE in 2015 and 2016 as a junior faculty advisor and is thrilled to be returning again this year!

Dominic Straquadine

Junior Faculty Advisor

Dominic Straquadine is a senior at George Mason University, majoring in Environmental & Sustainability Studies with a concentration in Environmental Policy & Politics. Dominic has been heavily involved in sustainability affairs at Mason with volunteering at the Presidents Park Greenhouse, and the Innovation Food Forest, attending meetings with the Virginia Student Environmental Coalition, and being a member of the Environment & Sustainability Living Learning Community (LLC). During his time with the LLC, he has assisted in the organization of the 2017 and 2018 LLC Showcase, as well as manage the sustainability facet of the 2016 Rappahannock Neighborhood Council year-end party. In 2017, Dominic received the Student of the Year award from Keep Ohio Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. In 2016 and 2017, he served as an intern with Marion County Recycling & Litter Prevention in Marion, Ohio. Dominic has also served as a Junior Faculty Advisor in 2016 and 2017, as well as an intern with the Washington Scholars Program. Dominic is looking forward to meeting this year’s delegates!

Lauren Slusher

Junior Faculty Advisor

Lauren Slusher is a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in history. Lauren was an intern for WYSE in 2014 and a junior faculty advisor in 2015 and 2016. She is Vice President of the History Club at NCSU and a member of the National Society for Leadership and Success. Lauren is also a charter member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
