Dominic Westbrook

DOMINIC WESTBROOK

Junior Faculty Advisor

Dominic is a senior at Michigan State University majoring in Zoology with a concentration in Zoo & Aquarium Science. Passionate about understanding and conserving wildlife, he serves as Treasurer for the Zoological Students Association on campus. Within his academics, Dominic has collected research by conducting ethograms on zoo animals and presented his data for zoo staff. He spends his spare time hiking trails, listening to music, and teaching students the natural behavior of insects and arthropods at the MSU Bug House. Dominic attended WYSE in 2018 and was a JFA in 2023. He is joyous to return as a JFA this year, and to network and foster community with WYSE 2024!

Emily LeBrun

EMILY LEBRUN

Junior Faculty Advisor

Emily LeBrun is a current sophomore at George Mason University majoring in Environmental and Sustainability Studies with a minor in Ocean and Estuarine Science. She is also a WYSE 2021 Alumni. Emily harbors a strong passion for the environment, leadership, and social justice. Within Mason, she is a part of many organizations such as The Green Coalition, Student Ambassadors, GMU Gen Act, and Be The Change. Outside of school she is the Director of Operations for a grassroots organization called “Our Youth for the Climate” as well as a strike coordinator for “Friday’s for the Future: DC”. Emily looks forwards to meeting all the new delegates at WYSE this summer!

Victoria Justiniano

VICTORIA JUSTINIANO

Junior Faculty Advisor, WYSE Alum 2022

Victoria attended WYSE in 2022. She is currently going into her sophomore
year at Duke University where she is pursuing a degree in Marine Science and
Conservation. She is passionate about anything marine science, environment, and
agriculture. Victoria is looking forward to being a JFA this summer!

Emma Walker

Intern

Emma Walker is a Junior at Hanover Public High School, where she plays the violin in three ensembles and is the current Treasurer for Key Club. Outside school, she loves to play with her dogs, read poetry books, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family. Science, animals, and music are the passions she loves with all her heart. She lives in Pennsylvania, close to the historic city of Gettysburg. Emma participated in WYSE during the summer of 2022 and is elated to return as an intern!

Paige Dunmire

PAIGE DUNMIRE

Intern

Paige Dunmire is from Georgia and is a junior at Alpharetta High School. Paige is a cross country and track runner, captain of the dive team, and a member of student council and the National Honor Society. In the summer, Paige enjoys coaching young divers at her neighborhood pool, and during the year, she enjoys reading, baking, art, and spending time with friends and family. Paige was a delegate at WYSE in 2022 and is so excited to return as an intern for WYSE 2023!

Laney Childers

LANEY CHILDERS

Junior Faculty Advisor, WYSE Alum 2022

Laney is from Douglas, Georgia. She has recently graduated with her associate’s
degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and is excited to continue her
college education at a new school. Laney plans to pursue a career in social media
marketing, with hopes to tie in conservation and environmentalism, her first passion. She attended WYSE in 2022, was a member of the Youth Advisory Board in 2023,
and a JFA in 2024. She is so excited to be back with WYSE again!

Julia Rennels

JULIA RENNELS

Junior Faculty Advisor, WYSE Alum 2022

Julia is a Junior at George Mason University pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Science
with a concentration in conservation. Outside of school, she spends her time rock
climbing, both indoors and outdoors. Julia enjoys her time at WYSE and feels that WYSE
encouraged her plans to study Environmental Science in college. Her most memorable
experience was the trip to the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, where she is
attending a semester in the fall studying endangered species. A staff member since
2023, she is exited to be returning to WYSE as a Junior Faculty Advisor in 2025!

Hanna Leitenberger

Hanna is a junior at Bishop Mccort Catholic High School in midwestern Pennsylvania They are the theatre tech director, plays in the concert and marching band, and are a member of the PJAS team. They are also part of the Genesis/Ecology Club. They like reading, drawing, playing games, and hanging out with friends. They attended WYSE in 2022 and are very excited about the opportunity to be an intern!

Evan Phillips

EVAN PHILLIPS

Junior Faculty Advisor

Evan Phillips is a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended WYSE as a delegate in 2022! He is passionate about sustainable business and is double majoring in Business and Economics with a sustainability minor. This past semester, Evan worked with the Ackerman Center of Excellence in Sustainability doing research on companies’ sustainability initiatives in North Carolina, short listing them for the annual Kenan-Flagler Sustainability Awards. He is also committed to serving his community through the national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega where he has gotten to chance to volunteer in tiger reserves and invasive species clean ups! In the rest of his free time he rows for the UNC men’s crew team, practicing 10 times a week.

Rafael Suanes

A professional photographer with over 25 years of experience, Rafael has covered a huge gamut of events in the DC area.  Ranging from private events of all sizes to Supreme Court nomination hearings, Rafael has covered it all. Specializing in college and professional sports, Rafael is currently the staff athletics photographer for both George Mason and Georgetown universities and has worked directly with every professional sports team in Washington, DC.
