Elizabeth Allen

ELIZABETH ALLEN

Elizabeth Allen (WYSE 2018) is a junior Biology Major at Roger Williams University with a minor in  Educational Studies. She is originally from Watertown, Massachusetts and currently resides in Bristol, Rhode Island. While at Roger Williams, she has assumed the position of Treasurer of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society for the 2022-2023 academic year. She is part of the Marine Science Club and All Paws In Club on the RWU campus. She volunteers at the National Marine Life Center as a member of their Animal Care Team working in seal and turtle husbandry, rehabilitation, and release. Elizabeth is still in contact with connections she made during her time at the WYSE program in 2018 and cannot wait to return as a Junior Faculty Advisor!

Thomas Lippincott

THOMAS LIPPINCOTT

Faculty Advisor

Born and raised in Fairfax VA, Thomas Lippincott is a George Mason Alumni. There he received his B.S. in Environmental Science.  While there Thomas was involved with Student Government, Greek Life, and was an Orientation Leader. After graduating, Thomas went on to work for the University of Chicago Marine Biological Laboratory as a lab assistant before moving to Baltimore where he is now a middle school science teacher. His hobbies include going to the movies, rock climbing, and volleyball.

MacKenzie Mullis

MACKENZIE MULLIS

Junior Faculty Advisor

MacKenzie is a rising senior at University of North Carolina Wilmington pursuing a degree in biology. Her passion for animals and the environment started young as her favorite shows to watch as a kid were animal planet documentaries. She would love to use her degree to work in wildlife conservation doing hands-on work either in field research, a zoo, or something similar. In her free time, she enjoys watching and being involved in theatre, thrifting, baking, embroidery, and watching Marvel movies. MacKenzie attended WYSE in 2019 and was a JFA in 2022. She is so excited to be coming back as a JFA again, and she can’t wait to help make WYSE 2023 an amazing experience for the delegates this year.

Lukas Baines

LUKAS BAINES

Advance Team Member

Lukas Baines will be joining the advance team for 2022 and is looking forward to meeting and working with everyone.  He is a sophomore at GMU and is double majoring in electrical and mechanical engineering. He interned at Lockheed Martin and participated in Washington Workshops Congressional Seminar. He spends his free time reading or playing with his dog and currently works at REI’s bike shop but looks for every chance to get outdoors.

Soph Zelizer

SOPH ZELIZER

Advance Team Member

Soph Zelizer is an Advance Team member for 2022, and is very excited to be joining the team.  Soph is a George Mason alumna with a BA in Sociology and Global Affairs, and is currently a graduate student in the social work program at the University of Washington. They have spent the past few years conducting research on LGBT+ wellbeing in the United States, Brazil, and Argentina, as well as working on an oral history project with local intersectional activists. In their free time, they enjoy reading, baking with friends, and hiking.

Averi Fischer

Averi is an Admission Counselor in the Office of Admissions at George Mason University. She received her Bachelor’s in Communication at Texas A&M University, and is now pursing her Masters in Religious Studies at GMU. She is so excited for the opportunity to meet new people and experience new things at WYSE this summer. Averi loves sweet tea, fiction books, church, and playing board games.

Laura Super

Laura Super is an Events Coordinator in the Office of Admissions at George Mason University.  She started with the Office of Admissions in September of 2021 and previously worked as an Advance Team member for the Washington Scholars Programs in the summer of 2017. She received her B.S. in Human Development from Virginia Tech in 2018. In her free time Laura enjoys traveling, trying new food and spending lots of quality time with friends and family.

Alexi Martinez

Alexi Martinez is a 2021 WYSE Alumni and High School Junior at George C. Marshall in Falls Church, Virginia.  At Marshall, Alexi is a member of the National Honors Society and the Varsity Softball team. Since attending WYSE Alexi has found a passion for conservation and plans to go into Environmental Engineering. In WYSE 2022 Alexi hopes to help bridge new connections for the WYSE class of 2022. In her free time she enjoys playing softball, visiting family in Colorado, and driving to the beach.

McKenzie Moore

MCKENZIE MOORE

Junior Faculty Advisor

McKenzie Moore (she/her) is an undergraduate senior at CSU pursuing a double major in Fish, Wildlife, Conservation Biology and Environmental Chemistry. She is currently performing undergraduate research in ecotoxicology to evaluate the remediation and recovery of a waterbody after acid mine drainage. Her current focus is environmental toxicology/ecotoxicology and she hopes to get a job in that field after graduation in the fall. McKenzie first discovered her passion for the environment after going to WYSE as a student in 2018. She is very excited to be coming back to WYSE for her third year as a Junior Faculty Advisor. When she is not working, she enjoys doing puzzles, crafting, and playing with her cat.
